Sun Group commences construction of Phan Thiet civil airport worth over 3,900 billion VND

Attending the event were senior government officials and representatives from across Vietnam. This is also an important event towards the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South, reunification of the country.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh stated that the event is a very meaningful moment for a land rich in tourism potential like Phan Thiet - Mui Ne.

“I highly appreciate the efforts of the leaders, departments and agencies of Lam Dong province, the decisive and professional involvement of Sun Group Corporation - a business that has proven its capabilities through the practice of investing in, building, and operating Van Don International Airport and investing in expanding and operating Phu Quoc International Airport.”

Located in Mui Ne ward, the Phan Thiet domestic airport project with a total capital of over 3,900 billion VND, an area of nearly 75 hectares, is planned to 4E standard - a level that allows the operation of modern wide-body aircraft, with a designed capacity of about 2 million passengers per year in phase 1.

The heart of the project is the 18,000 m² passenger terminal, with a design inspired by the indigenous Champa culture. Cultural depth and thousand-year-old historical stories are told through modern, highly applicable architectural language, imbued with the philosophy of Hon Lua - Aspiration to soar high.

The terminal's appearance simulates the shape of the Poshanu towers - one of the most distinctive spiritual architectures of Champa culture, symbolizing power and prosperity. The characteristic corbel brick technique, the arch shape rising to the sky, and the deep brick red color that endures over time create a unique identity for the airport from the moment passengers arrive.

The 13-story dome structure of the station, with 12 floors symbolizing a complete cycle, while the 13th floor is a transition opening up a new journey, a new era, and aspirations for growth. This is the first time an airport in Vietnam has been created with the philosophy: architecture is not just for admiration, but also for experiencing the layers of meaning of the charming Champa civilization.
